Comparing and Despairing!
Compare and despair is something we are all culprits of doing. What do I mean by this phrase? Well, have you ever been scrolling on social media and thought something along the lines of 'I wish I looked like him/her' or 'I wish my life was more like his/hers' and then you feel bad about yourself in some shape or form? This is comparing and despairing, whether it happens consciously or subconsciously.
Do you resonate with any of the thoughts in this image? Social media has incredible benefits; as a business tool, to connect with the rest of the world and really grow your network, to learn more and to share knowledge and information. It is extremely powerful.
On the flip side to this it is a very powerful tool, and arguably now one of the root causes, behind many mental health problems.
This may sound extreme however individuals are now literally living for social media. Situations and images/videos to share of these situations are being created purely to show the world that ie. someones life is 'great'. And from the outside in, it may look absolutely incredible and may make you feel like you wish you had their life. However, have you ever stopped to think that maybe what you are being shown isn't real? Because this does happen. Furthermore, we are all human. Not one single person in the world is for example; happy ALL the time, laughing ALL the time, seeing the positive ALL the time, confident ALL the time.
So when you are next on social media and you feel that you are 'comparing and despairing', try to stop your negative thoughts in their tracks and remind yourself of what I have said in this blog post. You are only getting a very 2 dimensional view of people on social media, for the most part. They are only showing you the parts of their lives that they want you to see.
The grass isn't greener, water your own grass. Let others around you inspire you. So take this and turn it into positive action and energy to make your life better! STOP WASTING TIME AND ENERGY WISHING YOU WERE SOMEONE ELSE THERE IS ONLY ONE YOU!
Sending you lots of love!
